Channel 12 in Alabama was asked about cell phones and telemarketers by one of their viewers, and I had been asked this question by several friends and family members - so I felt it was fitting to write about it. The federal Do Not Call registry or DNC list is for land lines only. There has been some fake urban legend email going around about all the cell numbers being released to telemarketers soon that's just not true.

- your cell number is not going to be released to telemarketers
- you don't have to register your number with the DNC list
- telemarketers are barred from calling cell phones without consent
- there is no separate registry for cell phones

Do the next time you get that email stating telemarketers will be calling your cell phone - please don't forward it on!
